GENERAL PROVISIONS
33. The renter confirms with his or her signature on this rental agreement, the terms and conditions and inspection form that he or she has received the vehicle and its accessories in good condition.
34. This rental agreement with its terms and conditions shall remain in the vehicle during the rental period.

36.The Lessor is authorized to take possession of the vehicle at its discretion and without notice if it has been illegally parked or has been used in a manner that does not conform to this rental agreement or law and regulations, or if the vehicle appears to be abandoned, or if the renter has any outstanding debts to the lessor.

In instances where the Lessor exercises his right according to the aforementioned, this by no means affects the payment of the rental fee or other which the Renter shall pay according to this rental agreement. If, however, the vehicle is re-rented to a third party within the agreed rental period the amount of the rental fee shall be deducted to the extent where the rental periods of the Renter and the third party coincide. The Lessor decides unilateral at any given time whether the Renter will be provided with another vehicle instead of the rented one, i.e. in instances of any breach of the rental agreement, accidents or damages. If the Renter receives another vehicle of a different and less expensive type, the Renter will receive no reimbursement of the balance. If there is only a more expensive vehicle available, however, the Lessor reserves the right to collect the balance between the rented vehicle and the vehicle which the Lessor decided to make available instead to the Renter, charged to the credit card presented by the Renter upon the beginning of the rent or later.

37.Smoking is prohibited in all Rijo Campers vehicles. Evidence of smoking in the vehicle will result in a cleaning fee of 300Euros.

39.The Lessor is authorized to charge to the Renter’s credit card the rental fee and other charges the Renter should pay according to this rental agreement, including payments because of damage to a vehicle while in the possession of the Renter, and also because of lost rental days because of damage, taking into consideration the utilization ratio of the Lessor’s fleet. The Lessor alone shall hold the power to decide when this is done and whether done in one transaction or not. This right remains intact for six (6) months after the vehicle has been returned to The Lessor.
The Renter’s signature to this rental agreement equal’s the Renter’s signature to credit card withdrawals because of the payments that The Lessor charges to the Renter’s credit card and which The Lessor should rightfully receive on grounds of the provisions of this rental agreement.

40.This rental agreement, and any agreements, made based on this agreement and its provisions, fall under the auspices of Icelandic law. This includes any claims for compensation that might be made. This applies both to the basis for and the calculation of compensation. The same applies to claims for damages based on liability outside this agreement. If legal disputes arise concerning this lease agreement, they will be heard before Rijo Campers’s legal venue, the district court of Reykjanes, Iceland.

INSURANCE

Third-party coverage and personal accident insurance is automatically included in your rental and in the self-risk liability amount mentioned here below. If for some reason, the renter causes damages to a third-party vehicle, without causing damages to the rented vehicle, the third-party liability is a total of 300Euros.

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW)

We at Rijo Campers offer the Collision damage waiver (CDW). A renter who only has the CDW is liable for damages amounting up to 3000Euros for all our vehicles. The following damages are however always on the renter’s responsibility and are not covered by the CDW:

-negligence or driving while intoxicated
-damages caused by driving into waters, rivers and when driving off-road
-damage to tires, headlights, windscreen and the underside of the vehicle
-damage caused by the wind blowing up the door
-damage caused by sand and ash storm
Please see full details of exceptions listed in the Rental Agreement.

SUPER COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (SCDW)

SCDW covers the bodywork of the vehicle in the same way CDW does but lowers the self-risk amount to 900Euros for all our vehicles. We offer our customers this to provide them with more security when travelling and a more enjoyable experience. However, when buying Platinum Collision Damage Waiver, the self-risk amount is reduced to Zero Euros.
The following damages are however always on the renter’s responsibility and are not covered by SCDW:

-negligence or driving while intoxicated
-damages caused by driving into waters, rivers and when driving off-road
-driving while intoxicated
-damage to tires, headlights, windscreen and the underside of the vehicle
-damage caused by the wind blowing up the door
-damage caused by sand and ash storm
Please see full details of exceptions listed in the Rental Agreement.

GRAVEL PROTECTION (GP)

This protection covers damages to the windscreen, headlights, mirrors, the hood or any other part of the vehicle when gravel or rocks get thrown onto the vehicle by another vehicle. A renter who has the GP is liable for damages amounting up to 350Euros for all our vehicles.

SAND AND ASH PROTECTION (SAAP)

For our customers’ protection, we have decided to offer an insurance which covers our customers against damage due to sand and ash storm which damages the paint of the vehicle, windows, lights and plastic. These damages can cost between 3600 to 11000 Euros to fix. By purchasing the SAAP insurance the self-risk amount is reduced to 750 Euros. Volcano eruptions in the past years have increased the risk of damage to the paint and windows of all vehicles and no insurance company will cover these damages. In high winds and dry weather, the ash from the volcanoes and sand in the south coast can cause huge damage to the vehicle and all the cost has fallen on the renter, until now.
